Matthew Rhody

Coach Matt is the director of Texas Spirit Cheer Company. He has been involved in cheerleading since 1989 and has been coaching since 1991 (how many of you were even born then?). He started Hampton Roads Cheer Academy, which was the first cheer gym in Virginia, and moved to Houston, Texas in the summer of 1999. He has choreographed routines for all levels of cheerleading, winning a number of titles along the way. Coach Matt has a strong desire to see every child succeed in their goals, whatever those goals are. His strong, Christian beliefs have helped shape him into who he is today. Outside of the gym, Coach Matt loves the outdoors. Hiking is one of his favorite past times and he loves getting on his mountain bike and seeing the outdoors at a much faster pace! He has a Golden Retriever named Kyah and enjoys going on walks with her.  He loves working in the yard and around the house and garage.  Coach Matt also loves and collects Star Wars memorabilia!  Coach Matt loves to travel.

Amanda Barber

Coach Amanda is one incredible person. She was born and raised in Houston, Texas where she attended school at Spring High School. She cheered for 7 years and has won numerous awards and titles including ASC National Champion as well as Cheer Power Grand Champion. She is been coaching for 8 years.  This young lady has such a connection with young children. She is able to relate to them in such a way that not only motivates them, but instills a desire to come back for more. She believes that working and bonding with children as well as helping them to succeed is the best feeling possible!  She enjoys grilling and hanging outdoors with friends and family.  She loves to shop as well.

Coach Laura

Coach Laura is a valuable member of the Texas Spirit family.  She was born and raised in Houston, Texas.  She is a Senior in high school.  She cheered for 11 years and won numerous titles, including UCA Nationals, Cheer Power Nationals, ASC Nationals and has also earned numerous individual titles.  Laura has been coaching cheer for 8 years.  Laura enjoys working with kids and strives to make each individual meet their personal goals.  She also loves to shop.
